A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

Like most of you, I too was a wonderful parent. Then I had kids. Theory is fine but the daily grind of managing kids is quite another matter. Add to this the fact that no two kids are ever the same.

Nilam Mencari Mahkota (conducted in Malay)
Teater Ekamatra

Dapatkah Nilam berjaya menjadi Putera? Ikutilah pengembaraan Nilam mencari mahkot”

(In search of his lost crown, a young boy ventures out and eventually embarks on an adventurous journey into the unknown. This dramatization involves children and their parents participation to continue the storyline by acting it out.)

Reading to my children not always a joy but…

Father's Blog 3 Comments »

As a father, I cannot say it is always a joy to read to my children especially if it is the 50th time that I am reading the story (to the extent that I can regurgitate the whole story). To allay the boringness, I discovered that each time I read to my kids (now ages 12 & 9) I will engage them differently by (i) emphasizing on different aspects of the story and (ii) taking the opportunity to bring in related topics to broaden their knowledge and imagination. This, to me, is the greatest satisfaction in reading to my kids and knowing that they learnt something new. Reading with your child is one of the best time for fathers to bond with their kids. Till today, my kids are still asking their Daddy to tell them a story before bedtime – be it from a book or stories from brain bank.
